What is plantar fasciitis?.

Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the plantar fascia, a band of tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot from the heel bone to the toes and helps form the foot's arch.

Symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis

The primary symptom of plantar fasciitis is sharp or stabbing pain in the bottom of the foot, especially near the heel. This pain appears when taking the first steps in the morning or after sitting for an extended period. The pain may decrease as you move around, but returns after standing or walking for an extended period.  Painful heel spurs may also develop.  Walking often becomes a painful wobble.

What Supposedly Causes Plantar Fasciitis?

The standard belief is that plantar fasciitis is caused by excessive stress and strain on the plantar fascia caused by overuse.  Repetitive activities that require a lot of standing or walking on hard surfaces don’t help.

What Really Causes Plantar Fasciitis?

Dr. Rowland believes, based on experience, that the primary cause is misalignment of the bones of the foot and ankle.  There are twenty-two bones there, which must support you while also moving constantly.  It’s easy for them to get out of line.  When that happens, plantar fasciitis develops as the painful symptom.

Standard Medical Plantar Fasciitis Treatments

Traditional care involves stretching and therapies to reduce tension and improve mobility and supportive footwear or orthotics.  Painful surgery with a difficult recovery is the last resort.   Treatment can last for months with little improvement.

Dr. Rowland's Different Approach – Treat the Real Problem

Dr. Rowland first uses a special massager called the Vibracussor to loosen and stretch the plantar fascia and ligaments in the foot.  He then adjusts the foot and ankle bones to restore normal function.  Additionally, he may also employ deep massage to break up heel spurs.

The key is restoring normal alignment and function to the foot.  The symptoms then improve or go away.

The Results

Dr. Rowland has successfully eliminated or significantly reduced the symptoms of plantar fasciitis and heel spurs in almost every case.  Patients usually experience improvement on the first visit.
